Student Group
Seraphim student performance group was formed specifically for Salsa UK 's theatre project.
It is the first time I have undertaken such a project and was not certain it would be for me. I cannot have been more wrong. This has been one of the greatest things I have done. Simon and I have really enjoyed it, and fuelled with our groups enthusiasm we have decided to keep a student group, and on April 8th 2008 will be doing a 6 week technique course to improve their dancing before we move on to another choreography. These guys have brought a big smile to my face every time I see them, and no, it wasn't cause we are all in the pub after rehearsals.......... well sometimes - lol.
They have worked extremely hard and I am so proud of them, I think they are really good; and I have been told I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so they know I mean what I say.
I am really looking forward to seeing them perform this routine,and know they will improve with each experience of doing so.
I would like to thank both Carolina and Sharon for their help during this choreography, and the biggest hug to Simon for helping me to choreograph and teaching the guys. Also to Dominika who does all the make up and made the head dresses she's so talented, and to each and every one of them for being so committed and wonderful to work with.
First Course Dancers:
Wendy - comes all the way from Nottingham , (where she also teaches); for each rehearsal. She has a jazz and gymnastics back ground. We met at the UK congress, and since she has made me feel that what I do is worth while because of her hunger to learn and improve along with her big smile and an I can do anything positivity. Yes Wendy, You Can.
Sabrina - Has been taking classes with me since last year travelling to the Docklands to do so. She has a background in belly dance, contempory and tango. This is another talented lady who's acting skills are also apparent.
Dolli - With her beautiful arms and hands- she has a street dance/hip hop background which does her proud.
Dominika - Has a background in modern dance, all the make up, hair and head dresses were also designed and made by her.
Felicia - I don't know anyone with as much guts. Felicia gives me faith in every dancer who wants to perform, she hasn't the background of the other girls but she has stuck with us and trained so hard to do this show. I am so proud of her, she is beautiful inside and out. She shows what anyone can achieve if they truly try, and that's impressive.
Darya - Ballet background and an amazing dancer, she will also soon be training with my professional team.
Ali - sometimes performs as a musician and came to us as an improver level dancer, this is not an improver level choreography. He has had me crying with laughter through some of these rehearsals. Think this routine will look better with guns rather than my pink deodorant and an umbrella .
Shameem - has performed before with Mambo Lifestyle. I am not certain he's had to be the only one on stage at the start of a show before; so this is again something new for him, and it is quite an advanced choreography. He has worked so hard and his enthusiasm and positivity rub off on me at every rehearsal.
