Ofoborh (A.K.A. ‘The Lord Bachata’) has been dancing and entertaining since he was 8 years old. Contemporary and Break Dancing was more his forte. His dancing continued but on a more serious level in his teenage years while in school. Directing and leading various dance projects, including recreating Michael Jackson’s Thriller Routine.
One of his other passions was Gymnastics which he did as a hobby alongside his dancing and both passions carried on until he left school. He took his first Salsa classes in Jan 2004 and up til now, he is loving it.
He spent the first 14 months just social dancing and getting to know what salsa was all about. He then realised that there was more to Salsa than just dancing. Won his first Bachata Contest at Club Cubana’s Latin Explosion Weekend at Brean Sands (2005). He was also placed in top 3 at the British Amateur Salsa Contest. He recently became the European Open Bachata Champion with his dance partner Angelique Sinclair at the UK Salsa Congress (2007).
He teaches a weekly bachata class in Central London, and has taught at major events such as ‘Mambo Cities, Hayling Island’ and the ‘UK Salsa Congress’ assisting Angelique in her shines class for men and women. He is a dedicated member of Seraphim Dance Company which is led by his current dance partner (Angelique Sinclair). Being part of the group opened doors for him in the salsa world. He knows that there is so much he will achieve personally and with the group. His discipline now involves teaching Bachata, Salsa on 1-2 and Cha Cha Cha.
He would like to say to the beautiful person reading this profile right now that, no matter how serious you get with salsa. Always remember to have fun while on the dance floor. He does and that’s why he believes that at the age of 70 he’ll still be a Bachatero and a Salsero.
